JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the growth and development of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens social media channels, associated analytics of the channels and general Marketing needs as assigned. This position collaborates with various departments across the Conservatory to understand their goals and objectives and how social media helps to achieve those goals. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for creating a strategic and effective social media plan that promotes, educates and engages with the Conservatory’s guests, followers and community. This position requires strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and must maintain the organization’s brand standards.

Additional Information: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position is eligible for the Conservatory's benefit package offered to full-time employees, which includes medical, dental and vision insurance, company paid Life/AD&D/Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance, participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Program (OPERS), optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, generous Paid Time Off (PTO), and complimentary membership to the Conservatory.

Compensation:$20.50/hour paid biweekly

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the Conservatory’s social media channels and develop an organization-wide social media plan in collaboration with departments across the institution.

  • Keeps current on social media trends to maintain fresh content.

  • Create content to reach channel specific audiences.

  • Tracks and reports on social media analytics monthly, annually.

  • Monitors social channels. Answers questions and engages with followers.

  • Monitor, respond to and track guest reviews across Google and relevant travel and review sites.

  • Attends Conservatory events and documents/promotes through photography and social media.

  • Works with the Conservatory’s Marketing staff to ensure social media and communications are cohesive and on brand.

  • Drafts press releases as requested.

  • Escorts media as needed.

  • Assists with proofreading and editing marketing materials.

  • Represents the Marketing Department in internal meetings/committees as requested.

  • Promotes Conservatory happenings on community calendars within the greater Columbus area and regionally.

  • Supports the Conservatory’s brand and brand standards across the institution.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations or equivalent education and work experience.

  • 1+ years’ experience in public relations and/or marketing, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural setting.

  • Knowledge and experience with managing multiple social media channels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience working with influencers, creators, UGC and/or affiliate programs.

  • Able to build solid working relationships with other departments in the organization.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Adobe CS software and web content management systems.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of social media strategy and creative best practices across platforms, including Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (this one is already on there, but it may be good to list the type of social media platforms).

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and balance several tasks/projects simultaneously.

  • Flexibility to change work schedule according to business needs.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external contacts.

  • Creative self-starter with attention to detail.

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time and occasionally move office materials weighing up to 20-25 pounds, with or without accommodation. This position occasionally requires periods of movement to collect media content, such as touring the Conservatory to photograph current plants in bloom or new exhibitions.
